Garerano
Founder notes

The Garerano blog, written after the cohort sessions end.

Every article here comes out of a conversation we had with a founder during a live session, a peer pod check-in or a mentor call that ran long. We do not publish generic startup listicles, we do not recycle advice from people who have never run payroll, and we do not pretend that building a company is cleaner or faster than it actually is. What you will find are short, specific pieces about the decisions that trip up founders in Finland and the wider Nordics, written by the mentors who teach in our cohorts and have made those same mistakes themselves.

Two founder notes to start with.

Both pieces below are the ones we recommend first to anyone who has just discovered the blog. One of them will help you find customers, the other will help you decide whether to fund the business yourself or bring investors into the picture.

Topics we cover

The four areas that come up in almost every cohort.

No matter which stage a founder is at, the blockers usually land in one of these four buckets. Our articles pick apart each one with specifics rather than slogans.

First customers

The outreach scripts, network moves and pricing decisions that get a first stranger to pay you real money.

Funding choices

Bootstrapping, angel rounds, Business Finland grants and the moments when each of them makes sense or does not.

Numbers that matter

Margin, cashflow, cost of acquisition and the spreadsheets every founder should understand before they grow.

Hiring and team

How to define the next role, write a scorecard, run an interview loop and onboard without losing momentum.

Why we write

Most founder questions we hear are not new. That is why we publish the answers.

We kept noticing the same questions arriving in the inbox and the same conversations repeating in cohorts. Writing them down once means we can point people to a clear answer instead of rewriting the same email, and mentors get to spend their time on the harder, more specific problems.

The mentors behind the articles.

Go deeper

If reading is not enough, our programmes go further.

Articles are useful, but they cannot watch what you actually do. The live cohorts can, which is why most founders who finish reading end up joining one.

Suggest a topic

If a question keeps nagging you, someone else is probably stuck on it too.

We write about what founders actually ask, not what makes a good content calendar. If there is a decision you keep circling, send it to us and there is a fair chance it becomes the next article.

Send Us the Question

Roughly once a month. We would rather publish one specific piece written by a mentor who knows the topic than churn out weekly posts that recycle the same advice in different words.

Yes, and it is welcome. Many of our articles started as a specific question from a founder or alumnus. Send the question through the contact page and a mentor will reply, sometimes with an article attached.

No. Some pieces fit naturally with the Startup Launch Accelerator and others with the Venture Scaling Masterclass, but every article stands on its own and you can apply the advice without joining anything.

Rarely, and only from people we have worked with directly. We are not interested in paid placements or content swaps because it would undermine the reason we write in the first place.

You can quote with attribution and use it internally in your team. Republishing entire articles or using them commercially requires written permission, as described in the intellectual property section of our Terms & Conditions.

Real cohort conversations, mentor calls and founder messages. Nothing is based on second-hand research from a different market or copied from another blog, and everything is written in Finnish working context.

Read what is here, then come build something with us.

Articles can only take you so far. If you want the deadlines, the peer pressure and the mentors who remember your numbers, pick a programme and let's get to work.
