Our Story
From one frustrated founder group to a Nordic teaching bench.
Garerano was never a planned business. It started as a Tuesday night meeting in 2013 for a handful of founders who were tired of acceleration programmes that handed out mentors without methods. Word spread through the Tampere startup scene, the group grew to fifteen, then to a proper cohort, and somewhere along the way the founder of that original group, Aaro E. Virtanen, realised the teaching was more useful than the consulting work he had been doing on the side. He closed the consulting business in 2015 and built the school instead.
What kept the thing going was not ambition. It was the letters and messages that arrived six months after every cohort — people telling us they had finally quit a client who was draining them, raised the price on their flagship service, or killed an idea that never deserved the energy. Those moments shaped the curriculum as much as anything we ever wrote ourselves.
